Man and woman have car hijacked in Dewsbury

A man and a woman were the victims of a car hijacking in Dewsbury.

The victims were driving along Knowles Hill Road at around 1.30am on Sunday, 23 April, when the suspect stopped their car in the middle of the road. They believed the male to be in distress so opened the driver's window to offer help. The suspect then leant through the window, before producing a knife and demanding the female driver, aged 21, to get out of the car.

Two other males then approached the passenger side of the car and dragged the male victim out of the vehicle. They also threatened the male, aged 18, with a knife.

All three of the suspects made off in the car in the direction of Healds Road.

Detective Inspector John Charlton, of Kirklees CID, said: "This was an extremely distressing incident for the two victims and thankfully no one was seriously injured. As well as the car being taken in the robbery, the victims had their laptop, an iPhone and iPod which were inside the car, also taken. Our enquiries are on-going and I would strongly urge anyone with information to get in contact with police."
