Maintenance works worth £80m planned for Yorkshire and Humber roads

Over £80m of maintenance improvements will be taking place on Yorkshire’s roads this year providing drivers with, what Highways England claims will be, "smoother and safer journeys".

This work, which is in addition to the major improvement schemes taking place in the region, includes resurfacing over 207 miles of lanes, using over 100,000 tonnes of material. That’s the same as resurfacing one lane of the M1 between York and London and 1.5 times the weight of the new HMS Queen Elizabeth.

Nearly 350,000 metres of road markings will be renewed which is enough to lay a single white line between Leeds and Edinburgh.
