Inmate fighting for life after setting fire to himself in Salford prison

    An inmate at a prison in Salford is fighting for his life after allegedly setting fire to himself.

    The incident occurred in Forest Bank prison on Saturday 13 January. The 37-year-old was treated by staff at the jail before being transported to Wythenshawe Hospital.

    He is now understood to be in a critical condition.

    Sodexo, the private company who runs the prison, said an investigation into the circumstances is ongoing.
