Welcome to Yorkshire has announced the locations of the start and finishes for next year’s Tour de Yorkshire.
The spa town of Ilkley, in the Bradford district, has been announced as either a start or finish town for one of the stages of the race organised by Welcome to Yorkshire and the French company responsible for the Tour de France, A.S.O.
New for 2018 the race will be extended from three to four stages between Thursday 3 and Sunday 6 May. The Asda Women’s Tour de Yorkshire will double in size next year, increasing from one to two days on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th May.
Earlier this year Bradford city centre hosted Stage 3 of the race with a start in City Park.
This year’s event was broadcast live in 180 countries and a record 2.2 million fans lined the route. The race also generated £64m for the Yorkshire economy and the Asda Women’s Tour de Yorkshire remains one of the most lucrative events in the sport.
