Historic Chiswick Riverside House to Receive New Blue Plaque

A historic property overlooking the River Thames in Chiswick is set to display a new blue plaque after Hounslow Council approved the plans.

A historic riverside building in Chiswick is set to receive a new blue plaque after plans were approved by Hounslow Council.

The plaque will be installed at The River House on Strand-on-the-Green, within the Chiswick Riverside ward.

Measuring 490mm in diameter, it will be positioned on the ground floor of the listed building between two sash windows.

The application for listed building consent was submitted by James Korner and was received and validated by Hounslow Council on 23 October 2025.

The council subsequently approved the proposal, subject to a number of conditions.

Work must begin within three years and must be carried out in accordance with the approved plans and documents.

Conditions also restrict construction or demolition work to between 8am and 6pm on weekdays and 9am and 1pm on Saturdays, with no work permitted on Sundays or public holidays.

Hounslow Council also noted that the planning decision does not provide approval under separate building regulations, where additional consent may be required.

The approval will see the new blue plaque added to one of the properties along Chiswick's historic Strand-on-the-Green riverside.
