Halifax Residents Asked How £20m Community Investment Should Be Spent

Residents in Mixenden and parts of Illingworth are being asked to help decide priorities for £20 million of Government investment due to be spent in the area over the next decade.

Residents in parts of Halifax are being urged to have their say on how £20 million of Government funding should be invested in their communities.

Mixenden and parts of Illingworth were awarded the funding last year through the Pride in Place neighbourhood programme, with the money due to be invested over a ten-year period.

A Pride in Place board has since been established, chaired by Rev Robb Sutherland, to bring together residents, organisations and businesses and develop a long-term investment plan for the area.

Calderdale Council says the next stage of community engagement is now underway, with residents being invited to complete an online survey and rank six priorities.

These cover opportunities for children and young people; community safety and anti-social behaviour; better community spaces; local pride and identity; cleaner, greener and better-maintained neighbourhoods; and opportunity, inclusion and support.

Residents can also identify which issues they believe require the most urgent attention.

The council says the priorities were developed following conversations with residents, children and young people, schools, community groups and other local organisations over recent months.

Feedback from the latest consultation will help the Pride in Place board refine its priorities as it develops the area's ten-year investment plan.
