Great George Street in Leeds city centre has been closed today after a water main burst. Yorkshire Water are onsite to make repairs, but Great George Street is likely to remain closed until Saturday.
A Leeds City Council spokeswoman said:
“We appreciate that the closure of Great George Street will cause inconvenience for those travelling through the city centre and local businesses. Yorkshire Water have advised us that the area is likely to remain closed until Saturday to allow their contractors to safely carry out repairs to the main and damaged roads and pavements. As with any emergency repair like this, diversions have been quickly put in place. We’ll be closely monitoring traffic to alleviate the inevitable disruption wherever we can. If you do need to travel to the area, please consider a different route or allow extra time.”
