Four Keighley town centre shops will be able to continue selling alcohol until February while they appeal decisions to revoke their licences following concerns over illegal goods and alleged criminal activity.
Four Keighley shops are set to appeal decisions that stripped them of their licences to sell alcohol.
In March, Bradford Council revoked the licences of five town centre stores following a two-day licensing hearing.
The panel had heard that raids carried out by police and Trading Standards in late 2025 uncovered large quantities of counterfeit tobacco being sold or stored at the premises. Officers also raised concerns about links to organised crime.
Four of the businesses subsequently appealed the council's decision: European Food and Keighley Mini Market on North Street, and Keighley Pound Plus and Wisla on Cavendish Street.
Because the appeals remain outstanding, the four businesses can continue selling alcohol until their cases are determined.
At Bradford Magistrates' Court on Friday, magistrates scheduled the appeals to be heard on 3 February 2027, almost 11 months after the original licensing decisions.
Dennis Rice, representing Bradford Council, told the court that although the premises have different licence holders, the council believes the four businesses are linked and said there was significant evidence common to the cases.
He also alleged that criminal activity had continued since the licences were revoked. The appeals have yet to be determined, and those allegations have not been established by the appeal court.
The council asked for all four appeals to be dealt with together and as soon as possible, arguing that the appeal process allows the businesses to continue trading in the meantime.
All four businesses were represented by the same solicitor at the original licensing hearing and will also share legal representation during the appeals.
The appeal hearings are now scheduled for 3 February, which the court was told was the first available date on which all four cases could be heard.
