First female Muslim minister to stand at the despatch box

    There was a first today for the British Muslim community at Westminster.

    Nusrat Ghani became the first female Muslim minister to stand at the despatch box at the House of Commons on Thursday 18 January.

    Ms Ghani is a Pakistani-British Conservative Party politician who is the Member of Parliament for Wealden in East Sussex. She is the minister for the Department for Transport.
