Today’s the day to show your support for Bradford’s bid to host the Great Exhibition of the North.
The city is one of four locations to be shortlisted in the Government-backed competition to host the two-month event in summer 2018.
Individuals, organisations and businesses can show their support for Bradford on social media channels today by using the hashtags #BradfordGXn and #GreatNorthExpo2018.
Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, Leader of Bradford Council, (pictured) said "I am delighted that we have made the shortlist as a host city for the Great Exhibition of the North.
"We have made excellent progress on city centre regeneration and with our young, diverse and enterprising population we believe there is no better place to host an exhibition of this scale.”
Kersten England, Chief Executive at Bradford Council, said: "It is excellent news that we have been shortlisted. Bradford has strengths in collaboration and partnership working – we’re best placed to welcome partners across the North to showcase northern excellence and we’ve received fantastic support for our bid from businesses and organisations in the district and beyond.”
Bradford is planning to stage awe-inspiring and immersive mass participation events, which bring together leading artists, designers and business innovators to create a world-class experience that will be thought provoking, transformative, life affirming, welcoming, playful, optimistic and fun.
The shortlist will now be assessed by the Great Exhibition board before a final selection is made by Ministers. The chosen venue will be announced in the autumn.
