Councillor Geoff Reid was today formally installed as the new Lord Mayor of Bradford at the annual ‘Mayor Making’ ceremony which forms part of the Annual Meeting of Bradford Council.
After the ‘Mayor Making’ ceremony the new Lord Mayor also officially launched his Lord Mayor’s Appeal and announced the charity he has chosen to support.
This year’s Lord Mayor’s Appeal charity is YoungMinds. YoungMinds is the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.
Coun Geoff Reid, said: "As well as my Lord Mayor’s Appeal raising funds for the charity, I also want to raise the profile of YoungMinds within the district, to help Bradford children, young people and their parents to make use of the services YoungMinds has to offer.”
Jane Case, our Northern Hub Development Manager, said: "YoungMinds is pleased and excited to be named as the Lord Mayor’s charity. This is so timely, as now more than ever it is recognised that children and young people are under increasing pressures, and the need for positive emotional wellbeing and mental health are foundational to them fulfilling their potential. We look forward to working in partnership with the Lord Mayor over the coming year.”
