Bradford Council is seeking people's views on new measures it wants to introduce to prevent anti-social behaviour related to alcohol and legal highs in the city centre.
The consultation is now under way on a proposal to create a Public Space Protection Order in Bradford city centre.
The order would relate to the city centre including City Park, the area around the University and College, and also Manchester Road.
Such an order can prohibit the consumption of alcohol unless it is directly outside a licensed premises, and would enable the council and the police to better control anti-social behaviour that occurs a result of people drinking too much alcohol.
The Public Space Protection Order was introduced by the Government as part of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 and it allows local authorities to impose prohibitions or requirements to specificed areas to help people enjoy public areas without being disturbed by anti-social behaviour.
The consultaton takes place from today and runs until June 20.
Coun Arshad Hussain, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety, said: "It's really important we get your feedback on this proposal to inhibit anti-social behaviour.
"We want to improve the quality of life for our residents and ensure visitors have a positive experience in the city so they will want to return again and again."
