An 11-year-old boy who sadly died in Rotherham last week has been formally identified as Subhaan Ali.
At approximately 7pm Thursday 21 July, police received reports that an 11-year-old boy had been seen going into the canal, close to Stonerow Way near Parkgate Retail, Rotherham, but had disappeared soon after.
Specialist resources attended the scene, including South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the Ambulance Service. Subhaan’s body was recovered from the water at around 11pm.
Investigating officer Temporary Detective Inspector Graham Stead said: “Our deepest sympathies go to Subhaan’s family who have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
“A thorough and comprehensive investigation is continuing, but I can confirm that there appear to be no suspicious circumstances.
“We will continue to provide support to the family and provide the necessary information to the coroner.”
