An 86-year-old Bingley war veteran, who raised more than £120,000 by completing an 86-mile sponsored walk along the Thames, has been recognised by the Prime Minister.
Jeffrey Long was handed the Points of Light award, which recognises outstanding volunteers who are making a change in their community and inspiring others.
He received a personal letter from Theresa May, who praised his fundraising for the Royal British Legion, writing that he has “encouraged new generations to remember those who have given their lives whilst serving our country”.
