Greater Manchester Police were alerted to a gang of four men after a member of the public spotted them with a machete on Sunday 29 July.
A BMW was surrounded on Sharp Street and four men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob.
No one was hurt or injured during the arrests.
