Police in Leeds are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at the William Hill bookmakers on Beeston Road on Monday night.
The incident happened at 8.12pm when a male entered the premises and threatened a member of staff with a gun, demanding money.
The member of staff managed to lock themselves in another room and called officers. The male fled the scene empty handed.
Detective Inspector Amanda Wimbles of Leeds CID, said "This was a very frightening incident and I would like to appeal directly to any witnesses to come forward."
Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call police on 101.
