An elderly man has been arrested following the discovery of the body of a woman in Bolton.
Emergency services were called at around 8.10am on Wednesday 27 March to a house on Ramsay Avenue in Farnworth.
When officers attended, they discovered the body of a woman – believed to be in her 80s – and a man, aged 88, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wilkinson of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This morning we’ve sadly had to inform a family that their loved one has died. “We will be supporting them through this extremely difficult time and thank the public for their patience as we continue with our investigation. “While we question the man in custody, other officers will be at the house carrying out forensic examinations and other enquiries.”
