Detectives investigating an attempted serious sexual assault in the Middleton area of Leeds have arrested a man.
The 39-year-old man was arrested yesterday and is currently in custody.
The incident occurred at around 4:20am on Friday morning on fields next to Newhall Road, Middleton Leeds.
Officers attended the scene following a report of an attempted serious sexual assault on a woman in Leeds.
The victim, who is aged in her twenties, reported being grabbed by a man and dragged onto a field next to Newhall Road, in Middleton. She fought him off and ran home.
Officers from the Leeds District Safeguarding Unit are continuing to appeal for any witnesses who were in the Newhall Road area in the early hours of Friday who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward.
Speaking on the incident, Detective Inspector Carl Morrison of the Leeds District Safeguarding Unit, said: “We have a number of active enquiries ongoing into this serious offence and have been conducting forensic examinations at the scene.”
