McGuire to leave Rhinos at end of season

Danny McGuire has confirmed that he will leave Leeds Rhinos at the end of the season.

The club captain will depart from Headingley after a 15-year stretch.

The 34-year-old is the leading try scorer in Super League history with 233 tries. He is also fourth on Leeds' all-time list.

He made his debut with Leeds in 2002 and has celebrated seven Super League Grand Final victories, three World Club Challenge titles and two Challenge Cup wins.

The England and Great Britain half-back spoke on the Rhinos’ website: "I am in no rush to make definite plans about next season and beyond. We are second in the league and in the Challenge Cup semi-final and that is where my attention is focused now.

"When I was a youngster coming through the academy, I got my opportunity because a senior player moved on. Now is the right time for me and the club to give our talented young players their opportunity.

"I am pleased to have made the decision now so I can focus on the remainder of this season and finishing my time at the Rhinos in the best possible way."
