Pakistan government offers railway track to Kartarpur border

The government in Pakistan has offered to build a railway line up to a new border crossing with India.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid claimed the track could run to the Indian border from Kartarpur, while inspecting the newly-constructed Narowal railway station.

He added that the construction of a railway line would facilitate the Sikh community.

The new border crossing was agreed to allow Indian Sikhs access to a pilgrimage site in Pakistan. It is scheduled to be completed by November 2019.
