Man arrested after stabbing girl for refusing marriage

A man has been detained in Lahore after stabbing a girl in broad daylight when she refused a marriage proposal.

A police official said the suspect intercepted the girl in a crowded bazaar in Mughalpura and expressed anger after he found out that she had refused his marriage proposal.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspect, identified as Ghulam Murtaza, holding a knife in one hand and proposing to the victim again before seriously injuring her.

Locals overpowered the Murtaza and handed him over to police.

The victim is believed to be recovering in hospital following surgery.
