India’s Supreme Court has told state judiciaries that they must implement a judgment to prevent mob lynching incidents by the end of the week.
In July the court said state and central governments have to take preventive, punitive and remedial measures to stop lynching in the future.
The states have been ordered to file a compliance report on the series of procedures set out by the Supreme Court.
In its judgement, the court also recommended to Parliament the creation of new laws to punish mob lynching.
