Newsroom Special - Len Goodman goes to Scam Avoidance School

5 minutes | Thursday, 22 March 2018

The Scam Avoidance School is a nationwide initiative by Santander and has been developed in partnership with fraud expert Dr Paul Seager, Psychology Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire. The free lesson is being offered by Santander branches to over 60s all over the UK to help them to avoid being a victim of scams.

The creation of the Scam Avoidance School follows research by Age UK highlighting that upwards of 5 million over 65s have been targeted by scammers – being one of the most at-risk groups for being scammed. Additional research by Santander reveals that the overwhelming majority of older people (82%) believe more needs to be done to help their age group learn about scams and avoid having their money and identities stolen.

Joining us in the studio is Len Goodman, to tell us more about his experiences of being the first graduate of the Scam Avoidance School. Alongside Len is Chris Ainsley, Head of Fraud Strategy at Santander UK to give his top tips and advice on how to avoid getting scammed yourself.
