Friday, 12 April 2019 - 4 minutes
New figures released by the charity Parkinson’s UK, to mark World Parkinson’s Day (Thursday 11 April), reveal for the first time the shocking harassment and discrimination experienced by people living with the condition.
Over 145,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with Parkinson’s, around one in every 350, with two new diagnoses every hour. Yet, as the results of the biggest survey of its kind suggest, discriminatory behavior and common misconceptions around the condition are still rife.
To tell us more about the research we were joined by Julie Dodd from Parkinson's UK on World Parkinson's Day.
