Though the festive period is generally a time of merriment for most, the added strains can become too much for some relationships.
Makin Dixon Solicitors, a West Yorkshire specialist family law practice with a focus on domestic abuse, says they see a spike in cases immediately following Christmas.
The law firm also claims that tensions may rise as Blue Monday approaches - the day that has come to be know as the most depressing day of the year and which falls this time round on 21 January.
