Newsroom Special - Polite Brits put safety aside to avoid causing offence on first dates

Valetine's Day is approaching and many people may be hoping to go on a first date - but should we give more thought to personal safety when meeting a stranger for the first time?

Research conducted for the Safer Dating Report, produced by dating app Plenty of Fish, found that nearly half (49%) of Brits have ignored their gut instinct and felt obliged to stay in the company of a date longer than they had wanted to in order to avoid offending them. This is despite 88% of singles declaring that trusting your intuition is one of the most
important factors when it comes to dating safely.

The Safer Dating Report was created in partnership with former undercover police officer, cyber security expert, and star of Channel 4’s hit show Hunted Danni Brooke. She joined us on the line to share her advice on how to stay safe in the pursuit of love.
