Newsroom Special - NHS staff shortage
Newsroom Specials
Thursday, 25 October 2018 - 8 minutes
Official figures show that the shortage of NHS staff in England is increasing once again. One in 11 posts are currently vacant, and the situation is particularly bad in the nursing workforce.
New research conducted by the College of Human and Health Sciences at Swansea University has found that over half of millennials know that nursing is the most understaffed healthcare profession, yet they claim going into debt makes pursuing a healthcare university degree unappealing to them.
Joining us in the studio to discuss how the hole in the healthcare workforce can be filled is Dr Jayne Cutter, Head of Nursing at Swansea University.
