      <description>The average British dog owner spends more than £350 a year as a result of their pet's bad behaviour. That equates to £4,000 over their lifetime. Research published today by the Dog's Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, reveals a catalogue of misdemeanours including damage to shoes, clothes, passports and work documents. Their research found that Brits are spending an average total cost in damages of £3billion. In 2016, Dogs Trust received one call every hour from owners looking to rehome their dogs due to behavioural problems. With research citing 1 in 10 dog owners have given up their four-legged family member because they couldn’t cope with their dog’s behaviour.       <description>Chris Packham is launching Tick Awareness Month this May in a bid to encourage pet owners to be more aware of ticks and the potential risk of disease transmission. The TV presenter and naturalist who travels regularly to France with his dogs, has seen at first hand the devastating impact on people and pets of tick-borne diseases such as Lyme Disease and Canine Babesiosis. He is joining forces with vet Natalie Morris to back calls for the Government to reinstate compulsory tick treatment for all dogs travelling outside of the UK. This will reduce the risks of importing new and potentially fatal tick-borne disease. Natalie is here to explain more....</description>
