The most common heart rhythm disorder is Atrial Fibrillation (AF) affecting around one million people in the UK– the risk from which increases with age – at the age of 40 we have a 1 in 4 life time risk of developing AF (increasing the risk of stroke by 500%, by 65 its significantly higher.  However it has to be remembered that heart rhythm irregularities can affect people of any age-young or old- healthy or unhealthy.&#13;
