Young people offered progressive advice on sexuality in India

An Indian government resource kit on adolescent health has received approval because of its progressive stance on sexuality.

The resource kit by the National Health Mission, written in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund, is aimed at peer educators, young girls and boys who will be discussing issues relating to their physical and mental health and development.

The handbook covers a variety of topics ranging from same-sex attraction to sexual abuse and mental health, all of which are considered forbidden topics for discussion in India.

The peer educator programme is expected to be rolled out across India soon.
