West Bengal protesters demand politicians return bribes

Protesters have taken to the streets of West Bengal with a peculiar demand – that their bribe money be repaid by politicians.

The state's chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, has told ministers to return bribe money they were paid by citizens seeking access to government schemes.

Police said the home of a local leader of her party was "raided" by residents on Monday 24 June who wanted their money back.

Now similar incidents are being reported across the state.
