Three militants killed in J&K operation

Three militants were killed in central Kashmir during an operation by Indian security forces today, 12 July.

Officials said there was an armed encounter in the Redbug area of Budgam during a search operation.

It is reported that authorities had received intelligence about the presence of militants in the area.

The official added that the search party of the security forces was fired upon by the militants, causing an exchange of gun-fire.

Local sources say the area has been cordoned to stop other militants from escaping.

The identity and group affiliation of the militants is yet to be ascertained.
