At least three people have died after a building collapsed in Karachi.
Local sources say that nine others were injured when a three-storey property fell in on itself in the Liaquatabad area of the city last night, 17 July.
Eye witnesses reported that over 20 people were trapped under the rubble as a rescue operation was launched. They added that the building was in a dilapidated state prior to the incident and so was susceptible to collapsing.
Two adjoining buildings were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Officials say the rescue operation is made more difficult due to congested streets in the area.
It is feared that more deaths may be reported as several people remain trapped under the debris.
