Mumbai came to a standstill today as thousands of protesters from the Maratha community took to the streets.
A march was held in response to feeling left behind by improvements for other caste groups. They are seeking enhancements in opportunities for jobs, education and also farm waivers for agrarian workers.
The protest took a 5km route through South Mumbai, blocking many arterial roads and causing schools and businesses to close.
