Thief thrashed by vigilante group in Virar, Mumbai

A suspected thief was tied up and beaten by vigilantes in Virar, Mumbai.

The scene was filmed by a mobile phone, as a mob tied up a woman they believed to have committed a robbery to a building gate.

The video went viral yesterday (4 April 2017), and depicts the woman with her hands tied above her head and with a bloodied face. She confesses to questioning by two men that she had earlier stolen money and a mobile phone.

It is believed a police constable arrived at the scene and took the woman to a police station.  However, it has been alleged that the police failed to record her complaint for the humiliation and the beating she had received from the vigilante group.
