Six people have been killed by mobs in India because of rumours of a child abduction ring.
Police have reported that the killings took place in Jharkhand state yesterday, 18 May.
Three people were beaten to death in Seraikela district on Thursday morning and three more were killed in Jamshedpur district in the evening.
A police official told the BBC that the murders were the result of rumours being spread about a child abduction ring in the areas.
No suspects have yet been arrested for either incident.
The official added that police officers had been injured while trying to stop the mob in Seraikela.
