Protests continue over Kashmir toddler rape

Protests continued over the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir.

People have demanded the death penalty for a man suspected of committing the crime. Thousands of people have been taking to the streets, with dozens left injured after police used teargas.

Schools and colleges were also forced to close in the Bandipore region.

Protests rocked Kashmir last year over the rape and murder of an eight-year-old Muslim girl in Kathua district.

Soon after the incident came to light, the federal government introduced the death penalty for those convicted of raping minors under the age of 12.
