Protesting farmers march on Delhi

Thousands of protesting farmers clashed with security forces on the outskirts of Delhi.

The farmers plan to march into Delhi to deliver a 15-point charter of demands, which includes loan waivers.

Reports say there was a violent confrontation with police and paramilitary outfits on the border of the nation’s capital with Uttar Pradesh state.

The police crackdown has been denounced by opposition parties - with Congress President Rahul Gandhi claiming the “peacefully coming” farmers were “brutally beaten”.
