Protesting farmers were baton charged by police in Karachi.
Wheat farmers from the Sindh region headed towards the house of Bilawal Bhutto, the chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), to hold a demonstration against the sugarcane rate set by the government.
It has been claimed protesters threw stones at police officers, who used water canon and baton charges to disperse the crowd.
Some farmers were injured in the incident and a number were taken into custody.
