Pakistan closer on deal with IMF

Pakistan is closer to agreeing a loan deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Finance Minister Asad Umar said that differences between Pakistan and the IMF had decreased following Prime Minister Imran Khan's meeting with IMF Chairperson Christine Lagarde on the sidelines of the World Government Summit over the weekend.

In parliament senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader Sherry Rehman urged the government to address the reservations of the opposition over the IMF bailout package.

She asked why the terms of the agreement are “being kept secret?”
