A man has been arrested in the western Indian state of Rajasthan in connection with a video which allegedly shows a man being killed in an apparent religious attack.
Police say the suspect has been identified as Shambu Lal, a Hindu, whose victim was Muslim. It is unclear when the attack took place.
Internet services have been suspended in parts of the region after the video was widely shared and large numbers of police have been deployed to the area in an attempt to keep the peace.
In the video the suspect claims he was motivated by “love jihad” – a term which has been popularised by fringe Hindu groups who claim there is a "conspiracy to turn Hindu women from their religion.”
