The Lahore High Court has summoned Punjab Inspector General of Police Amjad Javed Saleemi over an alleged fake encounter in which four people were killed by police officers.
Punjab Police is accused of staging an encounter in the city of Sahiwal on Saturday 19 January and killing a married couple, their teenage daughter and a neighbour.
The Punjab government has maintained that the murdered father, Zeeshan, is affiliated with so-called Islamic State.
However, following an investigation, counter terrorism officers were taken into custody on the command of Punjab’s chief minister.
The police chief has been ordered to submit documents regarding the case to the court.
