India’s Supreme Court has ruled that women are permitted to enter a Hindu temple from which they were previously forbidden.
The Sabarimala temple in Kerala, considered to be one of the holiest by Hindus, had barred women of menstruating age - defined as between 10 to 50 - from entering.
The court ruling came after a petition argued the custom violated gender equality.
