Indian police officer killed in ‘cow slaughter’ protest

A police officer and civilian were killed in protests over alleged cow slaughter in India.

Demonstrations turned violent in the northern sate of Uttar Pradesh on Monday 3 December as members of right-wing Hindu groups clashed with police.

The police retaliated with a baton charge after the mob allegedly set fire to a police station and several vehicles parked outside.

It is unclear where the alleged cow slaughter occurred.
