India train delays due to ‘drunk’ station master

Trains were delayed in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh because a station master was allegedly drunk and fell asleep on duty.

Officials repeatedly attempted to call Deep Singh but received no response, causing them to rush to the Murshadpur train station.

According to local reports Mr Singh was found asleep in his office with empty liquor bottles under his cot.

Authorities said a medical examination showed a high level of alcohol in his blood and an inquiry has been launched.
