Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister of Pakistan, has been banned from leading his political party.
Mr Sharif was ordered to step down as prime minister last year amid corruption allegations that he denies.
Pakistan’s Supreme Court has now ruled him ineligible to lead the PML-N party. This makes any decision he has made as leader void, including nominations for candidates in Senate elections due in a fortnight.
A verdict on his anti-corruption trial is due next month.
