Junior doctors across West Bengal continued protests for a fourth day on Friday, leading to health services being severely affected.
The junior doctors have been on strike since Tuesday in protest against the alleged assault on two colleagues in Nilratan Sarkar Medical College and Hospital on Monday night by family members of an elderly patient who passed away.
As many as 100 doctors in state-run hospitals across West Bengal have written to the authorities expressing their desire to resign from the services.
Some doctors who have continued to work have been wearing crash helmets, claiming it highlights increasing violence against medical staff.
