Chinese workers assaulted police officers in Pakistan.
Reports say the engineers, who have been contracted to work on a motorway between Bahawalpur and Faisalabad, attacked officers – who were allegedly deployed for the worker’s safety – because they were not to leave a camp unless supervised.
The police claim the Chinese nationals wanted to leave the camp in Khanewal to visit a “red-light” area on Tuesday 3 April.
On Wednesday the workers were reported to have halted operations and later began provocations against the officers.
A meeting has been held with the protesting workers and a road block has now been allegedly opened.
