Authorities break up kidney transplant racket in Pakistan

Police in Pakistan claim they have broken up a kidney transplant racket.

A doctor and his team were arrested in the Pabbi area of Nowshera for allegedly carrying out illegal kidney transplants between individuals for cash at a medical centre.

The police said in one case a donor sold his kidney for Rs. 200,000, with a buyer paying out Rs. 1.8m for it.

Officials added that the centre was also involved in the manufacturing of fake medicines.
