Update: Police Continuing To Appeal to Trace Mum of Newborn Baby that had Died in Bradford

Police are continuing to appeal for information to trace the mum of a newborn baby that had died in Bradford as concerns grow for her welfare.

Emergency services attended Bowling Back Lane in Bradford yesterday (20 August) where sadly a newborn baby girl was found that had died.

The baby girl was wrapped in a pink towel, which depicted the island of Fuerteventura in yellow on a purple background. There were various pictures associated with tropical locations on the towel also including fish, sea horses and a palm tree (pictured a similar towel).

A post mortem examination has been conducted and it believed the baby was stillborn. It is likely that this may have been a concealed pregnancy and the baby was not born in a hospital setting, so the mum of the baby may need urgent medical attention.

Police and partner agencies are extremely concerned about the mum of the baby and are urging her or any friends or family members to come forward to help us give her the help and support she may need.

Sara Hollins, Head of Midwifery at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are very concerned about the mum of the baby and her welfare. Because of the nature and circumstances of the birth, we consider that the mother will be highly likely to have physical complications that require urgent medical care, which is why we are so concerned and anxious to find her, and she will also be experiencing significant emotional distress.

“Please contact the police via 101, Bradford Maternity Services directly on 01274 364531 or even via text on 07753 672648 quoting log number 564.”

If you don’t want to speak to the police you can contact the Bradford Maternity Assessment Unit on 01274 364531 (open 24 hours a day).
